I’m Dan Palmer, and my aim for this blog is to take a holistic perspective on personal finance and help you tailor and apply the concepts to you and your situation.
Warning: I’m a millennial, so the thoughts on this blog will be coming from that perspective, and may be more applicable to fellow millennials. However, we don’t do ID checks, and welcome people of all ages.
I’m not a financial expert. My only credentials are those learned in the school of life. I’m determined to figure out how to make my money work for me, instead of me working for my money. To that end, I’m debt free, with the exception of my mortgage. I’ve gotten my hands dirty with mutual funds, individual stocks, retirement funds, renting, home-buying, insurance and credit cards, just to name a few. What I haven’t gotten my hands dirty with, I’ve researched compulsively until I was satisfied I knew why I shouldn’t get involved. The information I dispatch on my blog is a combination of my personal experience and my insatiable appetite for more information.
So yes, this blog contains a lot of already-been-chewed information. Because a lot of the personal finance info is overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.
There are a few basic rules to personal finance, and the rest is just fine tuning. For starters, check out 4 simple steps to make your finances stronger.
But don’t just focus on the ‘how’. Make sure you also know your ‘why’. If you haven’t figured out where you’re going, you’ll probably never get there.
You’ll also probably find that personal finance is a lot easier when you master contentment. Keep your eyes on your goals and your own finances, instead of worrying about where everyone else is.
